Working Two by Two I had the opportunity to watch pairs of swans in the lake at Hyde Park in London. They were amazing to see and they reminded me of the possibilities of working two by two. I noticed each pair had a different way of going. One pair drifted in similar directions, another floated apart, one checked in frequently while another took flight to explore new areas. Each pair seemed to find its way. I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of people. There is the possibility of a new rhythm when working two by two. Each person has their way of going, pace in the day, way of working and making decisions, or way of seeing projects unfold. When two people come together to do a project, there is a wonderful opportunity to discover new ways of working together. It will have rhythm all its own which is perfect for that pair. It begs a letting go, openness to new form, a chance to notice rigidity or inflexibility, and a chance to laugh and release the places we take ourselves so seriously. With each new friendship or work relationship we can further find our home in ourselves. We can notice all the things we enjoy about that other person, knowing those things are in us too. We may notice something that irritates us in someone else, and that is really giving us the opportunity to work on it in ourselves. Our friends and other relationships help us soften those “hiccups” in ourselves. We can go easy on ourselves, realizing without this relationship we might never discover those quirks, gifts, inspirations and new way of going. I saw the two beautiful swans diving below the water for food. One of the pair would dive, and then check in sporadically with the other. It was quite wonderful to watch. When they checked in, their necks together formed a beautiful heart, a symbol of love. I was reminded that in working with each other, we have the opportunity to let go, return to ourselves and see LOVE in each other. MK
