Solar Water Fountains with Critters

Supplies needed:  Fountain pump and Container, Rocks. Sculpey Clay

                   Acrylic Paints and Brushes, Gesso, and Sealant

 

 

These spectacular fountains were all made in the Tacoma, WA class. The artists are Austin, Brian  Kieran and Tonti.

 

 

Making the Solar Water Fountain

1.  Select your container.  (Select a pot that is glazed and without a hole.

2.  Paint the outside of the pot if you like.

3.  Place the pump inside the pot.

4.  Add river rock.

5.  Fill with Blue Solar Water.  (Click here to learn how to make it.)

6.  Plug in your fountain.

 

Making your Critter

l.  Decide what you want to make.

2.  Work the clay in your hands to soften the clay.

3.  Create your critter.

4.  Bake in a 275 degree oven for 10-15 minutes on a dish that is not used for cookingn or lay a piece of parchment paper

    down to protect the dish.  Be sure to open windows for ventilation during this process.

5.  Seal with Gesso.

6.  Paint with acrylic paints.
