Thank you, London
Thank
you, London.
Thank you
for your beautiful parks, double decker buses, the River
Thames.
Thank you
for eggs with soldiers, Pancake Day and lovely bridges.
Thank you
for poets who dream, inventors and queens, the sounds of
horses.
Thank you
for open spaces, bells and trumpets, and cobblestone
alleys.
Thank
you, London. MK
MK: I had
the opportunity to build a bridge in a painting project.
A bridge has its platform, its highway and beams to
support, its arches and
spans. The structure of a bridge seems to allow us to
pass from one land form to another, from what appears as
a known to an unknown, from someplace solid to an
opening across to someplace new.
The structure of a bridge allows for passage to the next
inspiration.
NS: “Hearing you say this
reminds me of watching my friend’s cat, Char, walk
across the top of the railing in her loft. Char was
not afraid to launch the walk. So many times
walking across the bridge is a bit scary as we don’t
know what lies ahead. Trust. I can do it. These
words come to mind as a type of chant or reminder I
must make to myself to cross.
I love the picture you
created. Thank you for doing this. It has inspired
me.”
A Little Bit of Introspection
What
city or place you visited or have lived in would you
like to thank?
NS: I was so inspired with this project you shared
about London. I used this idea to create my quilt in
the quilting class in March and write about a city I
just moved from. Thank YOU, again.
MK: I am looking forward
to revisiting cities in this new way….especially the
ones I may have grumbled about in the past.

A
Recipe
Fairy Cakes
Cupcakes are called Fairy Cakes in England and are
often served at special occasions. You can make
your own cupcakes and try the icing recipe below.
Place 1 pound confectionary sugar, ¼ cup melted
butter and ¼ cup strawberries in a blender.
(You can substitute a medium peeled orange and
orange zest.)
Drizzle over cupcakes.

In
the Desert Children’s Project
Someone
wrote to In the Desert Children’s Project about
making a Solar Water Fountain. They wanted to know
what type of pump to use.
Small fountain pumps can be used to make the
fountain. Check to make sure the pump is gong to
produce a sound that is soothing and to your
liking. The vibration and harmony are important for
you. Making and running your water fountain
provides a simple way to ‘clean’ your surroundings.
The bubbling water serves you in keeping the home or
office at peace.
