I received a greeting card from a friend and decided to see what ideas I could be inspired with to incorporate the idea of sending a greeting hung on a clotheslines.  I was able to use the adhesive type jewels and pearls in this message.  I always enjoy using stickers and this was a welcome new way to use them.

Clothesline Greeting Card

Supplies – Card Stock, various textures of paper, stickers, ribbon, string or cord, adhesive jewels, and letters to trace

1.       Gather supplies.

2.       Create your own textures of paper. You may want to use the technique of building layers of colored tissue paper. (Click - http://inthedesertchildrensproject.org/another_way_to_use_tissue_paper.htm )

3.       Glue down a piece of string to simulate a clothesline.

4.       Determine the greeting to hang on the line. I love you. Thank You. Aloha.

5.       Trace and cut out letters

6.       Glue the greeting under the string.

7.       Add ribbon and jewels to a few of the letters.

8.       Check the interior of the card to see if any additional colored paper is to go inside.

9.       Allow to dry and rest.

10.    Prepare and mail card.

A recipe was in the paper for making rainbow cupcakes.  The colors were such a delight.  It was fun to share with friends and family and see their surprise as they bit into the cupcake and saw a rainbow.

From Mary Koehler

A friend gave me supplies to do “Quilling” as a Birthday present. I found the activity easy to do and enjoyable…..the Quilling seem to assist me in “unwinding” at the end of the day. I took the materials on a visit to see my nieces who are 8 and 10….they made wonderful caterpillar and octopus cards for their friends….the animals seem to come alive on the paper.

Quilling

1.       Purchase a Quilling slotted Tool and Quilling Paper.

2.       Make sure you have a piece of wax paper to pour glue on, some glue, a few toothpicks and card stock or construction paper.

3.       Hold the Quilling Tool in 1 hand and slide the end of the Quilling Paper into the slot.

4.       Rotate the tool clockwise, rolling the paper strip against your finger.

5.       Gently remove the coil from the tool, let it expand and use the toothpick to glue the end closed making a loose coil.

6.       Paste the coil onto cardstock or construction paper to make your own cards.

7.       You can make flowers, animals, food, and designs by pinching the coils in different places to make different shapes.

8.  Enjoy sending the cards to a friend.
