Big Trees
 
 Giant trees are so magnificent.  This activity helps you get started searching for these treasures.
  1. Become familiar with trees in your area.
  2. Research the National Registry of Big Trees.
  3. Americanforests.org maintains a list.
  4. You may locate a giant tree in your area to report.
 
     Trees do a great deal to help the environment.
     Large trees help prevent erosion & produce lots of oxygen.
     They provide homes for more wildlife and nurture the area.
    
     General Sherman, a 2500 years old sequoia is as wide
     as a two-lane highway. 
     These big trees are referred to as champions or heritage
     trees.
